What are Cookies?

Cookies are tiny text files stored on your computer when you visit certain web pages. Please note that cookies cannot harm your computer. We do not store personally identifiable information in cookies we create, but we do use encrypted information gathered from them to help improve your experience of the site.

We use cookies on our website so that we can tailor the content to you, ensure it’s working the way it should and make improvements.

A cookie is a small file of letters and numbers that is sent and stored on your computer and/or mobile device which provides us with information in relation to your website usage, and allows us to recognise that you have used our website before.

Cookies are safe and secure and are commonly used by websites.

A cookie typically contains:

  • The name of the server the cookie was sent from
  • The lifetime of the cookie
  • A unique identifier (usually a number)

Cookies we use

Necessary cookies

These are cookies that are strictly necessary for the operation of a website. Without these cookies, this website won’t work properly. Accordingly, we are not asking you for your specific consent for those cookies. For all other cookies your informed consent is required.

Session cookies

Session cookies are temporary cookie files which are erased when you close your browser. When you restart your browser and go back to the site that created that cookie, the website will treat you as a new visitor.

Functional/Persistent Cookies

These are cookies which are set up to improve the functionality of the website. For example, cookies that remember the content you previously viewed on this website or the email address and password you provided when registering during an earlier visit to this website.

Measuring Website Usage

We use Google Analytics to collect information about how people use this site. We do this to make sure it’s meeting our users’ needs and to understand how we could do it better.

Google Analytics stores information about what pages you visit, how long you are on the site, how you got here and what you click on. This helps us ensure that our website is functioning in the most user-friendly way for visitors, and all of the content is relevant.

We do not collect or store your personal information (e.g. your name or address) so this information cannot be used to identify who you are. We do not allow Google to use or share our analytics data.

Other tools we use that track cookies:

We use Google Adwords to understand how our Google Ads are working. This is so we can optimise our ads in the best way possible to ensure they’re relevant and targeted to online users.

We also use Google Adwords to retarget users once they’ve visited our website. If you’ve searched for our business, or been on our website, then you may see our digital display advertisements pop up on various other websites on the internet.

We do not collect or store your personal information (e.g. your name or address) so this information cannot be used to identify who you are. We do not allow Google to use or share our Adwords data.

We use a Facebook Pixel tracks the traffic generated from Facebook through to the website, and provides useful insights for paid campaign performance. For details on these cookies, please view the cookie policy of Facebook.

We also use cookies to target advertisements on Facebook and Instagram. If your cookies suggest that you are relevant within the target audience and that the ad will be useful to you, then you may be displayed with this advertisement. There is no personal data attached to this, so we have no way of knowing if you’ve been targeted or not – this is just Facebook’s and Instagram’s algorithm determining you as a relevant user to see the ad.

How to control and delete Cookies

We will not use cookies to collect personally identifiable information about you.  However, if you wish to restrict or block the cookies which are set by our websites, or indeed any other website, you can do this through your browser settings. The ‘Help’ function within your browser should tell you how.

Alternatively, you may wish to visit www.aboutcookies.org, which contains comprehensive information on how to do this on a wide variety of browsers. You will also find details on how to delete cookies from your machine as well as more general information about cookies.

Cookies in emails

As well as the cookies we use on our websites, we use cookies and similar technologies in some emails. These help us to understand whether you’ve opened an email and how you’ve interacted with it. If you have enabled images, cookies may be set on your computer or device. Cookies will also be set if you click on any link within the email. The types of cookies we use are:

Link tracking: we may use unique tag links in some of our online campaigns and email campaigns.

Our emails contain a number of hyperlinks, each of which has a unique tag. When you click on one of these links MailChimp logs the click so that we can understand who has clicked through from an email to our website. We use this information to tailor future messages to you.

Making choices about cookies

If you don't want to accept cookies from our emails, simply close the email before downloading any images or clicking on any links. You can also set your browser to restrict or reject cookies. These settings will apply to all cookies on websites and emails.

User agreement

By continuing to use our site, you agree to the placement of cookies on your device. If you choose not to receive our cookies, we cannot guarantee that your experience will be as fulfilling as it would otherwise be.
